Hello students and parents, my name is Michelle Trimmingham! I love being a part of the family here at Miller Intermediate and enjoy learning about, working with, and encouraging the fantastic and talented students and staff here. I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Master's degree in Counseling. I began my educational career in 2007 as an Interventionist at Boone Elementary and continued there for many years, as a 4th grade Reading/LA teacher as well as a Reading/LA Content Specialist. I began a new chapter at Horn Elementary as a School Counselor and have since continued that journey here at Miller Intermediate.
It is a blessing to me to be able to touch the lives of the students I work with on a daily basis. They are wonderful, energetic, and enthusiastic about learning about this thing called life. I am dedicated to providing services and helping them to develop the skills necessary to be successful in life, even past intermediate school.

I am proud to hold the position as a counselor at Miller Intermediate. Having attended Chancellor Elementary, Alief Middle School, and graduating from Hastings High School, I am pleasantly surprised how life has afforded me the opportunity to give back to the very community that helped to shape me. I first returned to Alief in 2005 as a physical education teacher at Kennedy Elementary where I stayed for 2 years, followed by a 9-year stint as a counselor at Klentzman Intermediate. Miller Intermediate has now become my new home as of the 2016-2017 school year where I continue to enjoy my work with young people.
Receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Baylor University and a Masters of Education in Counseling at the University of Houston followed by earning credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I hope that I have prepared myself well academically. However, nothing has proven more valuable than what I have learned “on the job” working with people - especially the students. Counseling provides an avenue in which to assist students with the courage to be themselves, to resist negative influences, and to persevere and overcome familial difficulties. Encouraging confidence and building self-esteem facilitate academic, as well as, personal success. I feel that I can best serve my students with the premise that I am willing to learn from them as much as I hope to educate them.
Spending time with family and friends, playing basketball, swimming, listening to music, my students, and the continued hope that I am making an optimistic impact in the life of a child are among the most important weapons I use in battling the many challenges of life.
